Movie Review: So Undercover

It has been a while since we have seen Miley Cyrus on the scene, whether it be her music career or a film and television roles, she has been laying low. The Disney kid is all grown up and Miley is all grown up with a new image and an even sexier look in real life. Having been a huge fan of the film 'Mean Girls', i thought the trailer suggested that this film would be along similar lines. I was hoping to see Miley as an adult and more developed as an actress in this film.

Molly (Miley Cyrus) is a personal investigator for her dad, an ex-police officer, who takes hidden photographs of cheating spouses. She is rescued by the FBI from this demeaning task and planted as an agent in a sorority house to protect documents that have been left with Alex. Alex is the niece of a key witness in a Russian mob boss trial.

The plot of this film is very much confused and a lot of it is disregarded to keep up the comic effect of the film. Miley is trying hard to convert to an adult actor but she is not getting the roles that she deserves and playing a sorority sister was not the best use of her talents. A lot of characters in the film are disposable and many of them just strut around in their small outfits. Watch this if you like teenage films but it not a film to remember.

Movie Review: Silver Linings Playbook

Star rating: ***
Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and others

I am not really sure what to expect from this film. It had been given rave reviews and i have loved both Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence so for their sakes, i was willing to give it a shot. The trailer had not really warned me about the mental illnesses angle but the reviews had and i was unsure how i felt about it being used as a subject of a film. Mental health still seems like a touchy subject to me and if it is not well acted then it can come across as a bit patronising.

Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) is young widow after her police officer husband dies, leaving her disturbed and with an addictive personality. She gets fired from an office where she has slept with everyone there including the women. Tiffany enters herself into a dance competition in aid of a police charity but finds herself without a partner. Enter Pat (Bradley Cooper) who plays a former school teacher who has been in a mental institution for violently beating up his wife's lover. He suffers from bipolar disorder and is intent to do whatever it takes to win his wife back.

As films go, the best part of this film is probably the start where these unconventional characters are woven into this suburban neighbourhood. Robert De Niro is great as Pat's father who is torn between trying to get his son back on his feet and battling his own mental health disorder. Cooper and Lawrence both play their roles well and it is nice to see that the subject of mental health is not shied away from. Both the characters are very open about their illnesses and it seems that the people around them are in fact the ones who are 'crazy'. Their characters are accepted just the way they are and both the actors play off each other really well. A good watch but requires patience, i couldn't really watch it again.

Cutty Sark

On one my many adventure days with my love, we headed to a very cold Greenwich to visit the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark is one of the most famous landmarks in London, a huge ship that has opened late 2012 after a massive fire. The ship was originally one of the fastest sea vessels in the UK bringing tea from the shores of China. It is hard not to be amazed by the work that has gone into restoring this ship to its former glory and the detail that has gone into the recreating the cabins and the masts on the main deck are truly amazing. This is definitely a great day out but maybe on a warmer day.

The Carrie Diaries

AnnaSophia Robb and that 'Carrie' purse

I can say on a serious note that i was prepared to hate this show. Sex and the City was such an amazing series that anyone even trying to emulate it had a hard job in matching up the relationships that the girls had on the show. However, having watch the first episode of The Carrie Diaries, i was surprised to see that they have kept the same relationships in a whole new backdrop. The series follows Carrie as she falls in love with New York and discovers life after her mother passes away. Carrie is a teen in this and it is a teenage drama with a lot of angst thrown in. The best part of this series is that the fashion is amazing as ever, check it out below:

Golden Globes 2013

(From left to right: Selena Gomez, Sarah Hayland and Vanessa Hudgens)

I love Hollywood awards season, not because of the awards but due to the fantastic dresses that grace the red carpet and wow us all. It is amazing to see how the starlets turn out for the event and amongst  the fashion disasters, there are always some real fashion wow moments too. The image above is one of my favourites with young Hollywood at its best, i love all three of these girls and they dress so well. Here are some of my favourites from the Golden Globes red carpet:

Miranda Kerr

There is little that Victoria's Secrets model Miranda Kerr can do when it comes to turning out for an event. Whether it is walking the catwalk or catching a flight to LA, she is always perfectly dressed and when it came to the Golden Globes, i expected no different. Her burgundy dress is a showstopper and from her hair to her strutting leg, she looks fantastic.

Megan Fox

It is hard to say that only a couple of months ago, Megan Fox gave birth and she is back to her normal body shame. This nude fishtail dress accentuates her post-pregnancy curves and she looks as stunning as always.

Jennifer Garner

I love Jennifer Garner, she holds it together as a mum and a wife and continues to have a successful career as well. Her dress may not have the wow factor as the others but she still looks beautiful. Is it any wonder that husband Ben Affleck was enchanted with her and thanked her profusely in his acceptance speech? So lovely!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift rarely has a faux pas on the red carpet and one thing i do adore about this singer is that she never follows trends, she always looks appropriate and fantastic in her own way. This dress is yet another example of how brilliant her fashion choices are. This dress is sensible yet still fashionable and fashion led.

Zooey Deschanel

Here is another actress who follows her own trends and this prom like dress is proof how great she is at doing this.

I hope you have all enjoyed this blog post, something different than what i usually do. Let me know if you want me to do more!

More Zara sale shopping!

Black ballet pumps with gold studded heels (£16.99)

Considering how i have mentioned in previous blogs, Zara has never been my favourite shops. Ironically, i have become hooked in their sales and they do have some great quality items. I needed some smart ballet pumps for work and these are perfect. I am incredibly fussy about flat shoes, they can't be so flat, i always need them to have a little bit of a heel or a platform. I loved the fact that these had gold studded details on the shoe and it makes them a little bit more original.

Black lace peplum top (£23.99)

Peplum tops are always debateable in my mind. They flatter some people but can make some people out of proportion. The long lace sleeves look fashionable and sexy all at the same time and the sheer quality of the top make it look a lot more expensive then it is. I also bought some straight black trousers £12.99, they are not so easy to photograph but i am sure you all know what those look like.

Let me know if you would like outfits of the day from me in blog post to see how these work altogether!

Primark Haul- January 2013

Striped Primark top (£6)

I know i promised myself that i would not shop this month but i was surprised by the selection at Primark. Their Spring collection is well and truly in and despite the weather outside, there are some lovely bits in there. First up, i bought this fine knitted top for £6. These have been new for Primark this year and i bought a couple last year for the Winter months. I like this striped one, it is lightly coloured for the Spring months but it won't look out of place brightening up my layers throughout the colder months either.

Grey soft feel hoodie (£8)

I am a big hoodie fan and i love how warm they are running weekend errands and lounging around the house. I have quite a few but many of them are without a zip down the front. So when i saw this hoodie, i thought it was perfect and so incredibly soft too.

Blush pink zip wallet with rose gold detailing (£5)

This wallet has become a popular cult item by bloggers and vloggers alike. I love the rose gold detail on the wallet which adds a more expensive feel to the item. The inside has countless card holders, a zip case for receipts and on the outside is a zip pocket for coins. It is a lovely accessory and ever since Primark has switched their leather providers, they are getting better at producing these. I am looking forward to seeing what they bring out in their Spring collection.

Confessions of a Fashionista book launch party

I was given the opportunity by the lovely author of 'Confessions of a Fashionista', Angela Clarke, to the launch of the book at the Session School in Baker Street. It was a lovely evening and i had the opportunity to mingle with one of my best friends, Natasha and enjoy the party.

The cupcakes by Lilli Vanilli (http://www.lilyvanilli.com/)

Angela looked gorgeous in a navy blue dress and bright red heels which i thought was a lovely touch to her outfit. Introducing her book to the party, she said she had written it because she wanted people to know that working in fashion, you could have a sense of humour and be able to see the ridiculous in events happening around you.

The Session School has also put on some free makeover opportunities to get your hair and make up glammed up. I had the chance to get my hair curled by a lovely girl who is also a full time air hostess. I am really sorry but i have forgotten her name but she was so nice and really helped me and my friend feel comfortable getting our makeovers done in a room full of partygoers!

The finished result!

Get out there guys and buy Angela's book, it truly is brilliant. I will be blogging a review of the book soon and i am also hoping to interview Angela herself soon!

Confessions of a Fashionista Book Launch Preview

I cannot begin to tell you how much of an avid reader i have become of the Confessions of a Fashionista column on the Daily Mail newspaper website. They are a witty take on the fashion world and so accurately correct that they made me think of the times when i used to intern for fashion magazines and companies and think how on earth can these people not see how ridiculous and out this world it all seemed to an outsider like me.

At the end of 2012, the 'Anonymous Fashionista' came out of the closet so to speak as Angela Clarke (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2253694/Confessions-fashionista-The-big-reveal-Our-anonymous-style-insider-fesses-life-fashion-industry.html) . Her honesty and passion for her writing really struck a chord with me and when she announced on her twitter account (@FashConfessions) that she was going to be writing a book, i was thrilled with the news!

The launch party is tonight and i cannot wait to meet Angela in person. I will be blogging all about it and tweeting live at the event (@Sanoobar).

In the meantime, buy her book and support her in her success:

All the best for tonight Angela the fashionista with her wits about her,

Apologies i have not blogged much this week, it has been a crazy week at work and i have not had a minute for me or for you guys. Make me a Charles Worthington BAFTA Reporter!

Charles Worthington Salon at Home Intense Melting Balm

It is no secret that i absolutely love Charles Worthington hair products. Years of abuse from hair straighteners and lack of proper conditioning had left my hair dry and brittle on the end. That's why when i came across their Intense Melting Balm, i fell in love. It is a little miracle worker and only takes 20 minutes to work before my shower, perfect for a girl like me who is always busy and does not have much time for hair treatments.

Now, MY BIG NEWS. Charles Worthington are offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one blogger to present and capture all the live action from the BAFTA red carpet. It means that i would be there with all the celebrities of the British films world seeing all the latest trends on the red carpet.

I really really want to win this because it would be a defining moment for me this year. I have loved the glamour and the star studded magic of awards ceremonies and to be present at the BAFTAs would be dream come true. It is something that i have dreamt about since i was little girl and as a blogger, this would be reporting gold. I love the red carpet dresses and the gorgeous hair and make up that adorns the rare few who have the chance to walk the red carpet. I really hope I win and get this unique opportunity to make my dreams come true with a hair brand that i adore, Charles Worthington!

Zara haul - Boxing Day sales!

Zara is hit and miss for me. On a normal day, i don't really go in there because their clothes and accessories are vastly overpriced and they just don't fit me. They always seem to be too small for me and it is like they think women have no curves. Anyway, on Boxing Day i headed into Zara to check out what they had and was surprised!

Black tote bag (£49.99)

Ever since i have seen the Chanel executive tote on Fleur De Force's YouTube channel, i fell in love. It was so smart as a bag but when i checked the cost, it was an upwards of £2k and i cannot spend that much on a bag. So i was so surprised to see this in Zara and at a tiny fraction of the cost. It is absolutely gorgeous and has so many pockets, perfect for me to store my bits and pieces!

Navy blue quilted jacket (£59.99)

I feel as though i have searched everywhere this year for a new coat but i have not seen anything i like. Everything either makes me look like a teddy bear or are simply not warm enough even though they look good. However when i tried this jacket, i instantly loved it. It is shorter than what i am used to but it was so warm that i don't even think the length will matter too much.

Primark Haul

Primark accessories have always been hit and miss with me and i have not bought anything from them in a while. Apart from my pretty wine red necklace that i bought a couple of months ago, i have not bought leather bags or accessories from them as they always seem to smell like fish. I think they may have changed suppliers as now they don't smell funny any more and they actually look good.

Black quilted iPad case (£3)

I literally bought this a couple of days ago and i have already received compliments about this case. Chanel also have an accessory similar to this but mine was only £3!

Blush studded clutch bag (£6)

I have been looking for a cutesy clutch bag for a while now and i was pleased to find this one in Primark. I had seen a similar one in Zara for £19.99 so this one was a total bargain. I will be using this as a little in bag in my big bag to keep all the little bits in.
