BizAsia Interview with Shiv Darshan

Though i have not yet seen the Bollywood film 'Karle Pyaar Karle', i had the opportunity to interview lead actor Shiv Darshan about his debut in the film industry. Despite being the son of famous film director Sunil Darshan, Shiv came across as someone who was very humble and someone who has worked hard to get to where he has.

Beauty Review: Lush Santa Baby Lip Tint

Lush Santa Baby Lip Tint (Available here)

Lipsticks are always something i have opted to use in the summer when i feel happier and don't have to wear twelve layers of clothing to leave my house. Lip Tints are one thing that i don't like using, i have dry lips majority of the time and tints just seem to last only a couple of hours or just create that horrible cracked look whenever i wear it.

I came across the Lush Santa Baby Lip Tint  in a beauty set that i bought from Lush during the Boxing Day sales and i have been pleasantly surprised. I usually just put some vaseline underneath and just glide this across the top and it really does look lovely. It gives a hint of red without looking too brash or in your face. The only gripe i have with it is the fact that it comes in a pot, as opposed to in a stick form. I think i would get a lot more use out of it as a stick, being in London i don't want to use my fingers to apply it, when i have been touching all sorts of things on public transport.

Beauty Favourites: Nars Cosmetics

From left to right: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Shade Syracruse (Available here
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Shade Caramel (Available here
Nars At First Sight Cheek and Eyes Palette (Available here)

I am all about bargain drug store products when it comes to make up products but when it comes to skin care i have to go high end. I have bad skin which is oily and acne prone so i have to go to the counters and be tested with products to see which will make me break out and which won't.

Foundation, i have to be even more fussy with as my oily skin often reacts to it, rejecting it completely and melting it off even before the morning is out. After seeing YouTuber Tanya Burr rave about the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, i decided to get that tested out at the Nars counter in Selfridges. What was really lovely was that the lady at the counter gave me a pot full to take home and trial out at my own pace. I just love the way this sinks into my skin without washing me out or feeling too heavy. It has a dewy finish but in a matte way so that i am not shining like the moon by the end of the day. What is goes perfectly with is the Radiant Creamy Concealer, another product that it partners perfectly with. It covers up my blemishes and often i can wear this alone with some powder on my lazy days.

What is really good about these products is that i don't need to wear a primer with them. I know that this is often recommended to ensure the longevity of the products but i just don't need it with the Nars products. My foundation and concealer stay on all day and without the crazy amounts of oil that my skin often generates with other products.

Nars At First Sight Cheek and Eyes Palette (Deep Throat Blush, Eyeshadow top row: All About Eve and Nouveau Monde, Eyeshadow bottom row: Bellisma, Cordura, Laguna Bronzer)

I had never owned any Nars blushes before this and frankly, i just think individually they are ludicrously expensive. I saw this pallette and thought this was a perfect alternative. Still on the pricey side but much cheaper than buying them all individually. The pigmentation on these is lovely and they do go on without needing a lot on the brushes. They are versatile shades and i can definitely see what the fuss is about with the blush and bronzer. They give a nice glow to your skin without making it look like you are wearing them in the first place.

Nars are expensive products but they are worth every penny. They are so well made and compliment my crazy skin type so well, i will definitely be buying more in the future.

New Year's Resolutions

Ah the start of a new year, nothing that fills a person with more promise than a fresh start where they want to aim to better themselves for the greater good. I have been rather good for 2013 by sticking to my new year's resolutions. I have managed to get myself onto a marketing course, get two charity runs in and have altogether been trying to eat healthily too. New Year's resolutions are fickle beings and i think last year was the first time i actually managed to keep any.

So on to 2014, this will be my year for the most self improvement. I want to get better at being content, with myself and with the environment around me. It is weird but we get so wound up with our daily lives and always wanting to move on to the next thing, we don't appreciate life's simple pleasures. 2013 flew by in a flash for me and it is almost like i felt as though i was running out of time. This year, i want to take it slow and just enjoy the moments that life gives me and move forward as a better person.

Wow, i got sappy there! so new year's resolutions, here i go:

Get healthy
Due to me breaking my foot at the end of this year, my fitness regime has come to a halt as i heal. Once i get better, i want to start taking my cardio more seriously and become better at eating properly and exercising more often too.

Buy less, appreciate more
I am one of those people who does have a condition that involves me shopping for everything with complete glee. I want to save more this year and use up the beauty products/ fashion items i already have, rather than venturing out for more.

I was a complete bookworm throughout my school years and then life intervened and took it all away from me. I want to read more and understand more about life and the way it is.

Live for the moment
Though this sounds very broad in terms of a resolution, i just want to appreciate moments a lot more and take my time in whatever i am doing. I have done way too much running around last year. I want to spend more time with my loved ones, friends or family and just enjoy their company. Last year taught me a lot about the people who are there for me in my time of need and i want them to be around me exuding a positive influence.

Blog more
Last but not least, i have found that my blog suffers when i am busy and that is no excuse. I want to become more serious about blogging and be able to post more regularly!

Let me know what your new year's resolutions are in the comment box below.
