Starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and others
Star rating: **
When the trailers for this film released, i thought great, yet another Bollywood film being released as they desperately try to enter the sci-fi film market. Let's face it, apart from 'Koi Mil Gaya', i don't think i have been impressed by any Hindi sci-fi films. Heck, 'Koi Mil Gaya' only did exceptionally well because Hrithik Roshan acted phenomenally throughout the film and pulled in the audience.
The storyline for this film is not anything new. Augustya (Akshay Kumar), a NASA Scientist, rushes home to his small time village Paglapur to be beside his father's sick bed. When he arrives, he realises that his father was never sick at all and it was all a way for the villages to gain Augustya back into the fold. Paglapur is not only any map of India and this means that the villages have neither electricity or running water. Augustya devises a plan to fool the world that aliens have been in the village, to try and get the world's attention on the small village and give it the rights it deserves to have.
It is important to note that if you are looking for sci-fi film, this is anything but a sci-fi film. However, it does have an endearing storyline and if you are prepared to laugh at the film then you will enjoy it. Akshay Kumar is at his best playing the guy with all the crazy ideas and carries his role off well. Despite his villagers all being crazy, he acts as the one sane voice is not judgemental at all. Sonakshi Sinha looks fab as usual but barely has any role in the film apart from having the odd one liners.
Watch the film if you want to have a laugh this weekend and not take yourself too seriously!
